Hazel was my Mother's sister, and I remember that Aunt Hazel always
called me Barre, Vermont. I always felt loved by her whenever we got together.
Unfortunately, I didn't see her as often as I would have liked because in the old
days Needham and Medfield were on the other side of the world from where I
grew up in Melrose.

I fondly remember the family jam sessions at grammie Dimick's house in
Medford where Hazel would play trumpet, either my mother or grammie
Dimick would play piano, papa Dimick would play whatever instrument he
could get his hands on and I would play whatever instrument I was
unsuccessfully trying to master at the time. I believe Hazel may have
played in the Needham Symphony.

Hazel's first husband, Keith Gavel had a brother, Murray who was a famous
Boston dentist and a former Dean at Tufts Dental School. He wrote me a letter
of recommendation for Tufts, and I swear it's the only reason that I am a dentist
today.

Hazel was a wonderful woman, and she will be truly missed.

I remember visiting Grammy and Grampy Rayner when I was little and their house smelled of fresh baked items. And Grammy never missing birthday's or Anniversaries. She'd always send cards. I'm going to miss you.

I remember Grammy loved to walk her dogs and read books!
