Hedda Casey Obituary

CASEY, Hedda Passed away peacefully on the morning of March 25, 2009, at The Coolidge House in Brookline, MA. She was born in Constantinople en route from Russia on March 27, 1921. She came to the United States when she was 8 months old. Her family moved to Los Angeles. Her father and mother divorced when her father returned to Russia. Her mother Rose met Manuel S. Fredkin in Los Angeles - they were married and had 3 children, Norman, Joan and Edward. Hedda and her siblings have been very close through all the years. Her son Jeffrey Lane was born in California of her marriage to Phil Lane. He became Dr. Jeff Lane - a successful practicing psychologist for many years in Wichita, KS. Hedda was a unique individual in her sense of style and energy. An absolutely marvelous dancer - early on in Jitterbug and Latin Ballroom. She performed with Tony Martinez fronting his band in a famous Hollywood nightclub. A fine artist she created paintings and beautiful unique mosaics with natural shells and stones. In 1959 she and Arden Casey were married. They lived an adventurous life - always working together and being together... until he passed away on July 29, 1998. With the fine help of her brother Norman, Hedda then moved from her Nebraska home to Boston, where she was surrounded by loving family, her brothers their wives and her nieces and nephews. She lived independently in her own lovely apartment for many years. She had several fun trips to Wichita Kansas to visit her son Jeff. Her niece Susan Fredkin has faithfully been a loving friend and companion through all Hedda's Boston years. Services at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 1668 Beacon St., BROOKLINE, MA, Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 4:00 PM. A reception for friends and family is planned, nearby, after the ceremony. Hedda, and Casey, were wonderful, wonderful friends to me and my son, Mike, here in Colorado. After she moved from Nebraska to Boston, my letters and notes weren't answered so I thought she had moved again. I finally googled her name and her obit came up. I am sad but also glad she was with family the past few years and that Susan was there for her. I treasured her in life and I will always treasure her memory. She was so very special.
