CONNOR, Heidi Marie (Magoon) 50 years old died suddenly on May 6, 2011, in the Tulane University Medical Center, New Orleans, LA. Heidi was at Tulane to present a Doctorial Paper when she was stricken ill. Born in Taunton, on January 17, 1961, daughter of Mary Lou (Shaw) Magoon and the late Ernest Magoon. She was a graduate of Taunton High School, Class of 1979. She received her Bachelor's from Pine Manor College and her Master's from Bridgewater State College in 1992. Some of her activities were Alpha Epsilon Xi Chapter # 810 of Kappa Delta Pi, the International Honor Society in Education, Founder and 1st President, National Communication Committee Member, 100th Anniversary & 2011 CONVA volunteer and Epsilon Iota Chapter Member, Initiated 1991, American Educational Research Association (AERA), American Association of University Women, Member Phi Delta Kappa, University of New Mexico Chapter, McGraw Hill Publishers "Connect Composition" National Technology Advisory Board Member, adjunct Online Professor of English Composition II, Research Writing, Aims Community College. She was pursing her Doctorate from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, which she would have received in August of 2011. Heidi was recognized by President Clinton during his Innaurgurial speech as one of his 50 Rays of Hope, in education, her having been recognized as being from New Mexico, where she was a student at the time. President Clinton is scheduled to be the commencement speaker at Walden University this year. She was the swim coach at Taunton High School when she fell at the pool and was disabled. Not letting that disability get her down she was presented with a Citation from the Governor of Massachusetts for her work with the disabled. She was also the swim coach at the Fort Knox High School, in KY. While her husband was deployed overseas she lived at Ft. Hood, TX where she was the Mayor of Walker Village, at Ft Hood. Heidi is the wife of SSgt Michael Connor, USAF; and they were presently stationed at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. Besides her mother of Taunton, she is the sister of Bonnie Kothari of Nashua, NH, Colleen Markow and her husband Jay of Carver and Shawn Magoon and his wife Carol of Easton. She is the aunt of Angela and Alison Magoon, Hamel and Richau Kothari and Jenna Markow. Heidi was buried on May 18, 2011 in the Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday June 4, 2011 in Holy Family Church, Middleboro Ave,. East Taunton at 11 AM.
