Mr. Erhard was my French teacher, crew coach and dorm master during my four years at Middlesex. He straightened me out during a turbulent sophomore year with patience and kindness. It was because of his influence that I began rowing in the spring of 61. Nothing before or since Middlesex has had a greater impact upon my life. Mr. Erhard was my guide throughout. Years later I began teaching History in a private secondary school...Sally's alma mater! I often reverted to lessons learned at Middlesex when dealing with lonely or troubled students. Mr. Erhard's wisdom remains vivid. I am eternally grateful.

Mike was my French teacher and coach at Middlesex for 6 years. He was a sturdy, tough school master, but with a good and kind heart. I know he is now reunited with his brother who fell in Italy during World War Two.

Henry and family, i have often thought of your Dad over time and just saw that he passed away last year, my thoughts and prayers are with you. he was such a caring and humble man-always having a kind word for all he met.I am returning to Castine on 5/29 to bury my Dad and I want you to know my heart is with you. I am Emile Henri Erhard's granddaughter, so Henry must have been Uncle Henry's son (uncle to my deceased father, George Charles Erhard). I happened upon this while researching the Alker, Bobet, Erhard connection...I never met Henry, but it sounds as though he was loved by all. My love to the family.

It was with great interest that we read here about Mike's wonderful and full life. We didn't meet Mike until my mother, June Duston, moved into The Harbor View Cottage. We quickly became fond of Mike, he was always such a gentleman. He loved a kiss and a hug. His eyes would light up with a quick smile. He was such a sweet man. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

The best Castine Yacht Club cruise I can remember was with Mike, a two-night cruise to Burnt and McGlathery islands. The weather was perfect, 12-15 knots of wind, blue skies, and incredibly starry nights. It was one of my first cruises as head instructor and Mike very quietly gave advice when needed, leant a helping hand to anyone with a problem, and still managed to have more fun than anyone else. Mike and I worked together for many years on cruises, race committees, and as CYC flag officers. Mike was one of CYC's best, and I will remember him well and often.
