Herb was as excited as his 9 year old grand nephew Jared when they went to the joke shop in Boston. I won't ever forget the excitement in both of their eyes that day. Herb shared his wonder, joy and generosity with Jared and this legacy lives on in him. Remembering the twinkle in his eyes with love to you all,

The picture of Herb smiling really says it all. He always had that smile, whether he was talking about his boys and grandchildren, or the Boston Red Sox. That is how I will remember this true gentleman.

Adel, Andy, Peter, Matt & Jon --
Thinking about each of you, your families and Herb on this Sunday morning. I have always been an admirer of Herb - for his devotion to family, entrepreneurial success, warmth, kindness and sense of humor. Of course, Herb & Adel were like a 2nd set of parents to me in our young childhood. And though it was Adel who came to my rescue during that bout of acute homesickness, Herb always made me feel immensely welcome in your home.
Herb certainly carved out a great legacy and, in my view, that is an understatement.
Love to all of you, Scott & Kitty

Dear Savitz family,
We were very sorry to hear of your loss. My grandfather and grandmother (Harold and Anna Shabshelowitz) enjoyed many years of friendship and fond memories with Herb and Adel. I remember my grandmother telling me a story about how, on a car trip, Herb and Adel paid the toll for my grandparents, who were in the car behind them. Herb told the toll collector to tell my grandparents that people from Fall River did not have to pay. My grandfather remained puzzled at how the toll collector knew they were from Fall River. I do think Herb liked to tease about Fall River.
When I was first married, Herb and Adel kindly took my husband and me to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. I remember Herb told some funny story about a memorable Red Sox game that he went to with Adel. He missed a key play, maybe because he was buying Adel something from the concession stand? The details of the game have faded from my mind, but I will never forget how Herb always put people at ease and kept them laughing. He was also genuinely interested in people's life stories. I did not know he spoke Yiddish, and I would have liked to hear him speak Yiddish.
I know he was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and husband,
We will be thinking of all of you tomorrow.
Our deepest condolences,
Rachel and Randy Cox

Dear Savitz Family,
We are tremendously saddened by this loss and send our deepest condolences. To have raised such distinguished men, Peter, Andy, Matthew and Jon, Herbert had to be one of a kind and an outstanding and honorable citizen. We had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, and yes, he was a very special person with strength but also with warmth. He has such a rich and wonderful life. May he rest in peace and may his memories live forever.

Dear Savitz Family,
I am saddened to hear of Mr. Savitz's passing. He was a wonderful and kind man. My memories go back many years to those days in the 1960s when I was growing up across the street on Deer Path Lane in Weston. I recall spending time with Andy and Peter playing tag football in the street or having a pick up basketball game in the Savitz driveway. Once in a while Mr. Savitz would join in. We all had so much fun. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Sincerely, Bill Ferguson,Jr.
