I had the honor of meeting Izzy when I brought a group of 8th graders to visit The New England Holocaust Memorial years ago. Izzy talked to the class for over an hour, and he had us laughing, crying, answering questions, and being as attentive as we could be. He held us captive. Izzy graciously met with my classes over the next three years, willingly driving into Boston, so we could talk at the memorial. I have an incredibly powerful article that my students wrote about Izzy and their experience listening to him and interacting with his spirited presentation. I would like to share it with his family, if someone could email me your address. I have told Izzy's story to family members and friends. I feel his presence and know that all who knew him feel his love. He was truly a remarkable man. Meeting him was a blessing.

I was introduced to Izzy quite a few years ago. I has the privilege to hear Izzy tell his story about the Holocaust to a classroom full of middle school students. I was totally mesmerizing how quite the room was. He was eloquent, honest, emotional, humble, inspirational but most of all forgiving. He touched my heart and so that day and every day after. The world was a better place with Izzy in it. My condolences to his lovely wife and his family

I hold his memory in respect and reverence for all that he did just to live through it, and then ensure others knew about the Holocaust. A gentle man I knew from his dry cleaning establishment and the neighborhood. Blessings for his memory and family.

I witnessed Izzy share his personal, painful Holocaust memories with student visitors at The International Museum of WWII in Natick, MA, when I was the Museum's Director of Education. His grace, wit, and personal connection made profound impressions on both the students and on me. He was an unfailingly charming and positive human being--remarkable considering he endured the worst of mankind.

So sorry to hear. I guess all of us in the Holocaust community thought Izzy would always be around to inspire. Despite everything he went through, he was always ready with a joke. He was an incomparable organizer and teacher to so many. His loss is immeasurable.
