So sad to hear about Jim's passing. I met Jim in the early 90s when he took me on as an umpire. Not only did he assign but taught all of us how carry ourselves as objectively and fairly as possible. We also became friends from sailing on his boat to tailgating at BC football games. Always good for a laugh and most of all a good time no matter what the event was Jim will be missed. A life well lived.

Sorry to hear this. You always got a straight and honest answer in everything he did. I umpired indoor game for Jim. He put food on the table for many, many umpires. He did so for me during stressful financial times. As a professional he demanded same from his umpires. May he rest in the Lord´s arms for all the good he did.

Umpire Jim did a very professional job assigning umpires to numerous high school softball games.
Here in Reading Jim not only assigned umpires for the Reading Youth Softball senior league games but gave us a "good deal" to purchase equipment and uniforms. Well, before Title IX, Jim served this fledgling girls' athletic venture with care and respect.
So, I say: thank you, Jim
