I was away in July and missed all notices of Jim's death. I learned of it today through the "in memoriam" listings in the BCLaw Magezine. Although Jim was only two years ahead of me at BC law, I did not get to know him until many years later through our work at the Boston Bar Association and the BC Law Alumni Association. Working with Jim was always lots of fun and productive. He brought great joy to all of his efforts and shared that with everyone else involved. I was shocked and terribly sorry to learn of his death.
I hope Jim's family can take comfort in all of the wonderful words everyone has to say about Jim and the great stories they have to tell of him.

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Jim Marcellino. I was a young law student when I worked with him and he was instrumental in arranging for me to transfer to Boston College Law School; he was so kind and a wonderful presence at Gaston & Snow. He will be missed.

Jim will always be remembered for his infectious optimism and resilience when the going got tough. He brought great spirit and humor to everyone in our firm, Gaston & Snow and was truly one of the "good guys" at all times.

My condolences to the Marcellino family. Jim was a great attorney, who fully embraced the passion of an advocate. He was kind, yet made me proud to be characterized as a fellow "shark." He will be missed in our legal ocean.

As one of Jim's Holy Cross roommates 55 years ago, I got to live with a young man who was gracious, generous and solid. These and other characteristics guided the help he provided to so many people and his great life.

I associate many of the happiest, funniest, most interesting, and sometimes most terrifying moments of the first decade of my legal career with this man. RIP Jim- instead of this you should be golfing, telling ridiculous jokes, saying things that nobody else would get away with, pushing limits and wrapping everyone up in that big quirky heart of yours. Peace and happy memories to the Marcellino family.

Jim Marcellino was bigger than life when I was a first year associate in the litigation department of Gaston Snow & Ely Bartlett. He was always the first to greet you with "how's it going champ" when he saw you in the hallway, always there to offer advice and always tossing the football to you in his office. He carried with him a positive attitude, a caring heart and a devotion to the law. I was fortunate to have learned from him the skills every lawyer needs. I will miss him. RIP.

I knew Jim at Holy Cross where the whole Marcellino family made an impact. Jim had an understated, graceful sense of purpose. He was most effective in the most critical of moments.

Jim was a fabulous lawyer and top-shelf individual. Whether he was an opponent or on the same side of a case, he was ever the consummate advocate and gentleman. I always loved sharing "war stories" with him about football and rugby -- he was a great player, and I was simply happy to participate. I am deeply saddened by his passing and always will remember him with affection and admiration. My heartfelt condolences to the entire family.

Upon reading his obituary I was not surprised to learn how full Jim's life had been. He was a stunner of a young man who all knew would rise to great heights and remain there. His passing is a tremendous loss for all those who loved and respected him. I am deeply moved by this news and I send my love and prayers to his family. May Our Lord bless his spirit in the afterlife as He did here on earth.
