James B. Marcus

MARCUS, James B. "Jim" Of Newton, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, on April 7 at 89 years. A man of many interests and talents, Jim was first in his family to attend college, a proud graduate of Boston University School of Business Administration, in 1942, and BU Law School in 1949. Between these degrees, Jim served in the US Air Force in North Africa and Italy during WW II, attaining the rank of Captain. Jim practiced law at Simons & Marcus, Boston, for over 60 years. He will be missed by colleagues, clients, friends, and family. Son of the late Benjamin M. and Frances (Goldberg) Marcus. Beloved husband of Edna (Simons) for over 64 years. Survived by his children, Joan and husband Richard Yospin of Newton, Isabel and husband Peter Meyer of Bedford, Benjamin and wife Anita Bernhardt of Cumberland, Maine, and his son-in-law Edward J. Kiley of VA. Predeceased by his daughter, Florence Kiley. Also survived by nine grandchildren: Matthew and wife Susan Glazer Yospin (Newton), Gabriel Yospin (OR), Sarina Yospin (MN), Jennie Kiley Renna and husband Chris Renna (Maynard), Leah Kiley Mullins and husband Greg Mullins (VA), Adriana Meyer DaSilva and husband Adieldo DaSilva (CO), Joseph Meyer (Bedford), Hannah Marcus (CA), Nathan Marcus (OH), and five great-grandchildren: Kiley and Marianna Mullins, Tyler DaSilva, Jeremy and Juliet Yospin. Also survived by his brother, Dr. David W. Marcus of Sarasota, FL and many nieces and nephews. Services at the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, BROOKLINE, on Sunday, April 10 at 1:00 PM. Interment at the Temple Israel Cemetery, Wakefield. Memorial observance Sunday and Monday 4:00-7:00 PM with minyan at 7:00 PM at the home of Joan & Richard Yospin, Monday 6:30-8:30 PM with minyan at 7:00 PM at the home of Benjamin Marcus & Anita Bernhardt in Cumberland, Maine, Tuesday 4:00-8:00 PM with minyan at 7:00 PM at the home of Isabel & Peter Meyer. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Fund at the American Red Cross, P.O.
