James Wong Obituary

"Jimmy Wong" age 96, of Fall River passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving wife Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Kimwell Nursing Home. He was the husband of Kim C. (Chan) Wong to whom he had been married for the past 38 years and the former husband of the late Virginia Dear who passed away in 1963. Born in Canton, China, he was a son of the late Ning Sau Wong and Leung (Fung) Wong, he came to United States in 1936 and lived in Rhode Island and Boston before moving to Fall River in 1949. He was one of the founders of the former Grace Wong Restaurant on Pleasant St. in Fall River. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing golf, and taking photos. He and his wife loved to travel to China, Tennessee, and their favorite vacation was spent in the Grand Canyon. Mr. Wong lived a peaceful life, had a great sense of humor, was a friendly person, and a gentle soul. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and family in the United States, China, Canada, and Rhode Island. He was brother of the late Chew Doo Wong, Moon Hop Wong, and Lau Ho Wong Fang. His Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Daniel Chan on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 9:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River (at Locust, Cherry, and High Sts.) I was just a little boy when I ate at Jimmy wings restaurant on pleasant st in fall river I still remember the great Food and a beautiful blonde waitresses that used to call me smiley when I was a boy
