It is with great sadness that I see you here, dearest Jan. I am still in disbelief. Your kindness, warm heart and gentle smile is how I will always remember you. You were the nicest, and a pleasure to work with, a true gem. Soar high...and rest well sweet angel.

Jan I will never forget you. Sweet, charming, funny, always impeccably turned out in your fresh-pressed linen outfits. Remember you so nervous in recurrent training. It actually helped all of us put it in perspective. You'd leave the group around the table the night before to go back to your room to iron...said it calmed you..and the next day you always pulled it off flawlessly.
Will always remember in your final months when I knew how serious your condition was, you never failed to ask how my husband was doing with his medical issues. If I wasn't stuck in Indianapolis with him I would have been there for you. Glad to know your beloved sister was at your side. Our lunch date will have to wait I guess.
Rest in peace dear Jan.

Jan was a kind, happy, generous person. She was my sister's (Christine Hurley) best friend from the beginning. They attended the Delta flight attendant school, flew many flights together over the years, and saw some fantastic places.
I only met Jan a few times, but I liked her immediately. Everybody did...I hope she knew that..I think she did.
It is a terrible irony that Jan died at Christmastime. She loved Christmas. A true holiday fan. She really couldn't enjoy her last Christmas due to her illness. Jan faced her disease with courage and bravery. She was always thinking of others, never herself. She didn't want to "bother anyone" or have them "go out of their way". That was Jan.
I feel sad she never got to retire. She had just turned 65 when she was diagnosed with cancer. Just doesn't seem fair.
It is sad to say goodbye to her. Seems surreal that she is gone. Well, she will always be a part of our family. Jan is a designated "Hurley Girl" My family of four girls always considered Jan to be one of the "Hurley Girls". I think she loved and relished being friends with all of Chris' sisters.

Jan was happy, cheerful, and fun. She was my sister's (Christine Hurley) best friend from the beginning. They attended Delta Flight Attendant School together, worked as a team on many flights over the years, and saw some fantastic places.
Although I only met Jan a few times, I liked her immediately. There wasn't any negativity about her at all. She loved people, and I hope she knew many people loved her...I think she did.
Jan loved Christmas. A true Christmas fan. It is ironic that she died at Christmastime. Just doesn't seem right. Well, I guess we have to accept what life gives to us.
Jan handled her illness with grace and hope. She never wanted to "bother anyone" or "make them go out of their way". I feel sad she never got a retirement. She had just turned 65 but never got to enjoy one day of retirement.
Sad.
I know we will never figure out why life works out this way. Life is very hard, and this is just awful. We will miss "Our Jan".
