JANICE GLYNN Obituary

GLYNN, Janice M. Former News Anchor In Loving Memory of Janice Mara Glynn Janice Mara Glynn, a dedicated journalist and devoted community member, passed away at her home on Friday, April 26, 2024, in Weston, Massachusetts. Born on September 21, 1954, in St. Albans, New York, Janice was the daughter of James and Lorraine Glynn. Her father's military career led the family through various relocations across the United States and Germany, nurturing a resilient and adaptive spirit in Janice from a young age. A proud graduate of Boston University's Communications program, Janice enjoyed a distinguished career in broadcasting. Her journey began in radio in Connecticut, followed by tenures at Channels 7 and 56 in Boston, MA, Channel 12 in Providence, RI, Channel 4 in Dallas, TX and New England Cable News. Her professionalism and integrity made her a respected figure on the 6 and 11 o'clock newscasts until she chose to focus on her growing family. Residing in Weston, MA, she became an active participant in community activities. Her commitment to the town was best characterized by her roles as the president of the Weston Flower Association and as an elected member of the Weston Board of Assessors. She was known by everyone as a gracious, loving, giving, caring, woman who was always available to support and assist others. Janice leaves behind a loving family, her husband of 44 years, Gary R. Lee; her daughter, Jessica Lee Gobeil and Jessica's husband, Marc Gobeil; and their children, Theo and Antoine; Janice's sons, Ross J. Lee and Ryan B. Lee and Ryan's wife, Zoe Memel; and Janice's sisters, Virginia Glynn Barr and Virginia's husband, Harry Barr and Lorraine Patrice Glynn. A service to Celebrate Janice's Life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, in WESTON NEWTON, MA, beginning at 11:00 am. Her warmth, kindness and enduring spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her. Janice's legacy of compassion and professionalism will continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.

I Just learned of this. I knew Janice in college; she was so lovely and nice. After college I worked in media and enjoyed hearing about her success. Condolences to her family.

My beautiful sister. You have left us far too soon. We who have always been 3, are now only 2. Though your children are adults and living on their own, they have lost someone that can never be replaced. Your husband through 44 years will continue on with memories only. Though are hearts are broken our family bonds are not. We 2 who remain will keep strong the ties of family and love. You remain with us, always.

I'm very sorry to hear of Janice's passing. She was a radio colleague of mine many years ago and we stayed in occasional contact in the years following. It was not a surprise that she would transition to TV and be successful. She was a classy person and fun to be around. Condolences to her family and many friends.

Janice was so very dear to me. I can hardly believe she is gone, that I won´t hear her mellifluous voice again. We were WPRI -TV coworkers in the 1980s, but friends for a lifetime. I will miss her more than I can ever say. Rest well, lovely friend.

I worked with Janice at WPRI-TV in the 1980s. She was always so upbeat. This is so sad.
