JOAN SAKAKINI Obituary

SAKAKINI, Joan It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mom, Joan Sakakini, 87, at her home in Newton, MA on April 16. Joan was born in Boston, in May 1933 to Thomas and Marguerite Riordan. She was the youngest of four fun-loving sisters: Edna, Phyllis and Norma, who predeceased mom. Joan married her true love, Al Sakakini, in 1957, and they built their life together in Brighton and then Newton, MA for 50 years before he passed away in 2007. Joan is survived by her daughters Diane Sakakini-Rao and her husband E. Krishna Rao and Lee Pagani and her husband Jorge Montoya as well as 6 grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Isabella, Charlie, Anna and Leo. Her son Chuck Sakakini was killed in a car crash in 1986. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Joan taught us all to love fully and unconditionally. This was her greatest gift to all around her. Her warmth, humor and love will be dearly missed. Funeral arrangements will be private. The loving care that was provided to mom at Evan's Park, as well as Marian and Breige from Gentle Hands was profound. They were with us to the very end, and we will be forever grateful. In lieu of flowers, we have set up a fund for mom's wonderful caregivers. Please Venmo any contributions to: [email protected]. Visiting Hours: Private

Rest In Peace Joanie. You were a remarkable woman, so full of love and joy. You will forever be in my heart with Chuck and Al. Honest to God, I mean really. All my love to Diane, Lee and all the children.
