John Hugh BANKS

1944 - 2023

BANKS, John Hugh Of Hebron, CT, beloved husband and father, passed away, on August 27, 2023, after a lengthy illness. John was born on October 6, 1944 and grew up in Littleton, MA, the youngest son of the late Percy and Margaret (McGovern) Banks. After earning a BS from Northeastern, he spent his career as a mechanical engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut. He could fix, or build, anything and was also a state-ranked geocacher who relished creating puzzles for other 'cachers. He also loved to travel and was an avid sports fan whose favorite trips were "to the races" around the country with his brothers. John will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend. He will be profoundly missed by his wife of 52 years, Judy; his children, Liza (Justin) Talbot of Austin, TX and Hugh Banks of Norwalk; siblings, Robert (Margaret) Banks of Coventry, David (Cathy) Banks of Wells, ME; sister-in-law, Ellen Banks of Littleton, MA; and many extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents; John was predeceased by his eldest brother, Earl. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11 am, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 30 Church St., Hebron, CT. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Memorial Garden.
