ENGMAN, John David "Dave" Died Nov. 2, 2008 age 75 at home in Warwick, MA from complications from a form of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He was born in Waltham. MA June 27. 1933, son of John Henry and Edith (Taylor) Engman. He grew up in Concord and Acton MA, graduated from Lawrence Academy in Groton and received a BS in mechanical engineering at Tufts. Dave later received an MS in electrical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Dave worked several years as an engineer on railway equipment and guided missiles and then worked in developing computer software, which he did until he retired. He, with his late partner Virginia Glennon, designed and built his house in Warwick, MA. After retirement he worked on building several houses for Habitat for Humanity in Orange, Greenfleld and Northampton. Dave had a lifelong interest in railroads, history of technology and industrial archeology. He held several appointed offices in the Town of Warwick. He also enjoyed reading, music, travel, cutting firewood, gardening, and cats. He is survived by his partner Cornelia Montgomery. his son Eric Engman, and his wife Celia (England) and their daughters Sarah and Julia, of Bryn Mawr, PA; his brother Edwin L (Ted) Engman,and his wife Leila (Ray) of Alexandria, VA, and their daughters Kristin Ehlman of Middletown, Delaware and Karen of Alexandria, VA. He is predeceased by his first wife Cynthia (Hamlin) Kephart of MeClellanville, SC. There are no calling hours. Services will be held Saturday Nov. 8th, at I 1:00 am at the Metcalf Memorial Chapel, Athol Road, Warwick, MA 01364, with Rev. Dan Dibble officiating. Interment will be private.
