John will always hold a special place in my heart. He was my counselor at the Granada House. John had a gift of connecting with people in a way that offered love, strength, hope, and encouragement. I´ll never forget the warm welcome I received from John when I walked through the doors of that house. I was scared and John offered kinds works and a listening ear, and gave me the reassurance I needed. We were both students at UMASS Boston and he offered to drive me there as I didn´t have a driver´s license at that time. During our trips to school, we shared a lot of stories about life, had a lot of laughs, and even saw the Queen Mary. What an incredible human being John was, and what an inspiration he was to me and so many others. I´ll be forever grateful that our paths crossed and that I had the honor and privilege of meeting John and developing a friendship with him. Rest in peace my friend.

My deepest condolences to John's loved ones. John showed me that I had strength and courage to fight for my sobriety and that I was worthy of a different and better life. It was with stern words at time, but also with love and compassion. I will miss him dearly but I will always feel blessed to have called him my mentor and friend.

To Cathy and all members of John's family. I am sorry I can't make the service. John was a big influence on a kid trying to find his way through that neighborhood during that time. I will always remember the discussions/debates/ arguments we would have over sports, politics or music. Thank you for being a voice of reason in a neighborhood that was often unreasonable. It will we never be forgotten.

Darlene, Cathy & family, he enjoyed the simple things in life, his family his dogs Dudley and Ethel, I know he was one proud Grandpa, he helped a lot of people, including some advice he gave me to give a friend, her daughter was throwing her life away to drugs. I asked he answered me right away without hesitation, for that I am thankful. John may you RIP.
