JOHN LIPPINCOTT Obituary

LIPPINCOTT, John Haines III Age 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Weston, MA on April 30, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born to John (Jack) Lippincott, Jr. and Doris (Doss) Lippincott on July 18, 1941 in Atlantic City, NJ. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Jean, his children Thomas Lippincott and wife Anne of Southington, CT, Laurie Dupree and husband Richard of Simsbury, CT, Jean's children Wendy Foster and wife Claudia Gelzer, Christopher Foster and wife Cristina, all of Rowayton, CT. John was affectionately referred to as "PJ" or "Papa John" by his seven grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, Natalie, Samantha, Monique, CT, and Gray. John was predeceased by his first wife, Linda Lippincott of Weston, MA, and his sister Jan Healy of San Francisco, CA. John graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. John retired from a lengthy career as an Investment Manager, most recently as a Vice President at Liberty Mutual Investment Group. Previously, he worked at Cigna Investment Management Company, INA Corporation and Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Companies. John was an avid Red Sox fan, skier, tennis player and a gifted gardener. He loved to travel with family and a close knit group of friends called the Baggy Knees. He loved spending time at his cottage in Wellfleet, MA. John was a member of the Dedham Country Club. He was also a generous philanthropist to many charitable organizations, and had a particular passion for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Pine Street Inn of Boston and the Center for Coastal Studies, for which he served on the Board of Directors. A private Celebration of John's Life will be held by his family at a future date. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Care Dimensions of Waltham, MA, who provided exceptional support for John and his loved ones. John was a work colleague, but more importantly, a dear friend; the kind of friend that would directly tell you if he thought you were screwing up. John absolutely loved being “papa John” and talked about his family often. I will miss John and am sending his family my heartfelt condolences.
