John MAHERAS Obituary

MAHERAS, John Peter Jr. Age 86, of Falmouth, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2023.

He was the beloved son of the late Parina and John P. Maheras, Sr.

John grew up in North Quincy and graduated from North Quincy High School. He also attended Northeastern University and proudly served in the U.S. Army. John moved to Braintree and then Hingham before returning to Falmouth where he had summered since 1971. He owned and operated J.P. Maheras Co. Inc. for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and was an avid bird watcher. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

John is survived by his daughter, Lauren Wakefield of East Falmouth; his son, Gregory Maheras of Brookline, eight grandchildren, Jessica, Molly, Melissa, Susanna, Ailish, Peter, Niko, Max; his former spouse and best friend Gail Maheras; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Peter John Maheras, John "JP" Maheras; and his siblings, William Maheras, Kathrine Harris, and Mary Payton.
