SULLIVAN, John J. Of South Boston, passed away on January 24, 2023, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Carole A. (Burke) Sullivan of South Boston and the late Virginia (McCarthy). Dear father of Paul R. Beranger of South Boston and Pembroke. Devoted son of the late Annie (Connolly) and Anthony Sullivan. Brother of Julia Reardon and her late husband Dennis, and the late Thomas P. Sullivan and his surviving wife Faye, the late Mary M. Avitabile and her late husband Lou, the late Michael J. Sullivan and his surviving wife Nancy, the late Anthony Sullivan, the late Anne Furtado and her late husband Buddy, the late Stephen M. Sullivan and his late wife Mary. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Visitation in the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St., SOUTH BOSTON, on Tuesday, January 31st from 4-6pm. Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven Church, 615 East Fourth Street, South Boston, on Wednesday, February 1st at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. John was Navy veteran and served on the USS Des Moines. He was member of the McDonough Post South Boston and founder of the South Boston Irish American Club and Co-Founder of the South Boston Chippewas Club. Longtime owner of Sullivan's Pub South Boston and longtime parishioner of St. Augustine and Gate of Heaven Churches.
