Father Downey will always be a special person. He would come to World's End in Hingham and take my brother Harry and myself to CCD at St Paul's. He kept a "good eye" on my bother as a youngster. I lived at a convent in Jamaica Plain during my High School years and he would visit me there. I was thinking of him and his kindnesses last night and wondered where he was. This morning I was amazed to read the obituary. I truly wish I had taken the time to find him and to thank him. He was a wonderful inspiration to all. He will be remembered and thought of often.

WHAT A LOVELY MAN. I HAVE GREAT MEMORIES OF HIM AND HIS WONDERFUL/ODD SENSE OF HUMOR. HE ALWAYS HELPED WITH CYO. IN PARTICULAR, I REMEMBER HIM HELPING OUT WITH A BENEFIT BASKETBALL GAME AT POINT JUNIOR HIGH, DRAGGING A LADDER ONTO THE COURT SO HE COULD STUFF IT. MOST MEMORABLY WAS HIS NICKNAME WAS TIGER JOE - AND HE SAID A QUICK MASS - LOL. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.

Father Downey was a wonderful pastor. priest and friend to the family. He was allways there in time of need. His quick wit and great personality was loved by all. He will allways be remembered and missed. He certainlly fulfilled his vocation as a priest.
