This note is way too late -- I just learned of Josh's passing through the Franklin&Marshall College magazine. I was a Physics classmate of his at F&M. Even at that time, I had an interest in meteorology and Josh once brought me to his home to introduce me to his father, then making radiosondes for VIZ. I ended up with a career at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, with a group that has launched radiosondes for many decades.
During that visit home, Josh told me the story of his bedroom ceiling. In his childhood, he decided to make a planetarium. He painted his ceiling black and spend hours (probably weeks) with a sky chart, plotting all the stars in fluorescent chalk. I can just imagine the care he would have taken with this task. When he went to college several years later, his parents decided to have the room professionally cleaned. You guessed it, the cleaners removed that pesky dust on the ceiling. Josh told the story with no anger, just an acceptance of things that can happen in life.
Although our paths did not cross after college, I will always have fond memories of Josh and offer my sincere condolences to his family.
