I met Judy while my husband was stationed in Okinawa. I knew nobody there at the time. When I first met Judy she was busy teaching and raising her daughter Carolyn. But for me, she always made time to talk to me and give advice about living on the island. Very bubbly and friendly are words that come to mind. We were only there for a year, but her assignment changed from Japan to Germany. She loved it there in Germany and managed to keep in touch throughout the years with postcards from places she visited like Greece and always an annual Christmas card. Years later, I did get a chance to meet her once at a restaurant in the Boston seaside area not sure what town while we were visiting in Massachusetts. We chatted like we had just seen each other the other day. I will always remember her generosity and hospitality in Okinawa - offering to lend us dishes and the use of her washing machine. We didn't have one in the little apt we had. Her kind hearted smile will always be a precious memory for me. I'm sure she makes the angels smile. Rest in peace Judy. Betty Dallaire

My mom was going through her storage and found all my old school papers and found all my 5th grade papers from Ms. Bottiggi's class. I decided to look for her and I am saddened that she has passed. I just wanted to say, she taught me in Mannheim in 1991 and she had the coolest accent, she used to have a little tune to learn how to spell her name, and she got me hooked on Carmen Sandiego. She was an absolutely wonderful woman that I still remember to this day.

This woman was my absolute favorite teacher in the world. I lived in Mannheim (military parents) and she made me fall in love with reading. On a whim, i decided to look her up and am so heartbroken right now. I love you, Mrs Bottiggi

Favorite teacher in school.

She was my favorite teacher (Mannheim). She always told me in class that I was growing to grow up and be someone some day. She used to say in class "back track to the backpack, take a peek" whenever we misplaced something. I use that phrase to this day. I will always remember her as a sweet and kind person who always showed love and cared for her students.... and helped push them to reach their goals. I miss you dearly!

I am very sad to learn that my FAVORITE teacher has passed. I had Ms. Bottiggi for 6th grade in Mannheim. I am now 33 and still remember the lessons she has taught. She was not your traditional educator. I can attribute my love for brain teasers to her and the many activities she did with us. She always shared her traveling adventures with us from the time she taught in Japan to her visit to Paris (beware of the well trained pickpocketers) She LOVED Boston! She would showcase her accent by saying "I park my car in a garage." I would google her every once and awhile to see if I could find her with no luck. Now that I have I know she is in a better place! Rest in Paradise Ms. Bottiggi.

Ms. Bottiggi was my 4th and 6th grade teacher in Bermuda, She was THE most memorable teacher I have ever had. She occasionally would bring her baby Carolyn into class and we would all coo over her. When I left Bermuda in 75, I was, at that time, the only student to have ever beat her at her multiplication races. It was a great way to teach and one that to this day I still remember. She was a unique and special person and I am fortunate to have known her even in such a small capacity. I am sorry for your loss and may she rest in peace. I believe that there are many people in this world who will hold her memory dear, she was a bright light in this world.

To Carolyn and Family,
I had the great pleasure and honor or knowing and working with Judy when we were both teaching in Duxbury in the 1970's. I directed two teacher musicals and Judy was one of the "stars." What a talent! I so enjoyed her and am saddened at her passing. I even knew you, Carolyn, when you were just a little girl. She loved you so.

To Judith's daughter, Carolyn. It has been many years since iI have seen you as I knew you as a little girl. My husband, Chuck, was your counselor in elementary school in Okinawa. Chuck and I and your mom were close friends for many years. Chuck died of lung cancer 5 years ago. We can imagine the two of them being friends in heaven. I am so sorry for your loss. It was a surprise to hear. Thinking of you, Joyce. Dudley

I will so miss our monthly phone calls. Even though we never got together in the US, we stayed in touch after teaching together in Mannheim and had many hilarious conversations. Judith's wit will remain unsurpassed. I will truly miss one of my very best friends and one of the best teachers ever.

My sincere condolences. I first met Judy on Okinawa her first time. I went to Hong Kong with Judy her first time. My feet are still sore from all the walking and shopping So many wonderful memories. We both sang now and then in church. Always loved to sit beside her, of course there were a few chats and giggles during mass, a real no no. Judy then came to Mannheim and I was in Heidelberg. Met up many times for fun and food. Judy was so classy a real four star production. God be with you my friend. May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Keith Boelter, Delray Beach, FL
