KATHERINE SHEPHERD Obituary

SHEPHERD, Katherine Of Lake Worth, Florida, died of COVID-19, on January 11, 2022. She was 34. Beloved daughter of Elizabeth Layton Shepherd and Benjamin Shepherd of Boston and sister of Henry and sister-in-law of Mariya Masyukova of New York, she was raised in Wellesley, Dover, and Cambridge, and attended the Meadowbrook, Park, and Rivers Schools, all in the greater Boston area, and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. From a young age, she had a gift for caring for younger children and she had a curiosity for science and medicine that her late grandparents – Robert and Ruth Layton and H.R. and Carol Ruth Shepherd, all of New Canaan, Connecticut – took joy in encouraging. A Memorial is planned for the warmer months near Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire, where Kate and her same-age friends at Blodgett Landing, spent the summers of their youth swimming, playing games, doing art projects, and parading from house to neighboring house from not long after dawn until well past dusk. Donations may be made in Kate's memory to the Lake Sunapee Protective Association, 63 Main Street, PO Box 683, Sunapee, NH 03782.

I am sad to learn of Katie's passing. Katie and I graduated from Rivers together. While we didn't stay in touch after graduation, I always recall Katie being genuine, kind, and caring. She will truly be missed.
