KENNETH SCHNEIER Obituary

SCHNEIER, Kenneth B. Of Brookline, formerly of Newton, MA on Thursday, October 14, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Arline (Freeman) Schneier. Devoted father of Barry Schneier and his wife Marty of Holliston, MA, Ron Schneier and his wife Betty of Wilton, CT and Jeff Schneier and his wife Tess of Kittery, ME; loving grandfather of Joseph and his wife Laura, Daniel, Michaela and her husband Matthew, Michael, Drew and his wife Alexa, Jeremy, and Josh and great-grandfather of Lily, Jacob, Luke, Clementine, and Paige. Dear brother of Robert Marshall and his wife Lynn of Pembroke Pines, Florida, and brother-in-law Burt Freeman and his wife Paula; son of the late Jack and Lilian Schneier of Brookline, MA and son-in-law of the late Albert and Rhoda Freeman and lifelong friend of Elaine Groipen and the late Eddie Groipen. Ken served honorably as a US Marine aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp in World War II, where he achieved the rank of Private First Class. He took great pride in his service to our country and as a member of the US Marine Corp. He proudly wore his US Marine cap wherever he went, and it was not unusual for him to be stopped by individuals who would not just thank him for his service, but inquire about his experience. As a member of the greatest generation, he was proud to share his experiences with anyone who asked. But most important to Ken was his love of family. He took great pride in seeing his family grow over the years and in hearing stories of their adventures and successes. It was his devotion and love of family first that will stay with all of us forever. The family would also like to thank the staff at Goddard House in Brookline, MA and the team at Harbor Health Services/Elder Services (Pace) in Mattapan for the care and love they showed him and his family. I was thinking about my parents and decided to look up my father´s childhood friend, Kenny, and see now that he has passed away. I know how tough it is to lose parents and send you my late, but sincere, condolences.

Our fathers grew up in the same house on Mason Terrace and, after several decades, reconnected when they found themselves hospital roommates. After they both returned home, they stayed in touch for years. My parents, Shirley and Barry Jones, were very fond of your folks and I got to meet them several times, as well. They were both lovely and so proud of their family. I hope your happy memories sustain you. -Heidi Kelf

My sister, Tess, married into this wonderful family and while I am forever happy about that, it was getting to know Ken (and Arlene) a bit that makes me most thankful. Ken was always interested in what I was up to, always had a warm smile for me, and was so charming. Our deepest condolences to the Schneier family and friends. You´re Dad, Poppa, friend, left a wonderful mark on this world.
