LEO HARLOW Obituary

HARLOW, Leo R. At home, in North Easton, MA, surrounded by his wife, Helen and children, John, Margueritte and Hugh. Leo Raymond Harlow received the sacrament of the sick from Father Neil Wack, on April 12, 2025 and went with God, on April 26, 2025, from his home. Leo was born in Brockton, MA, to John and Renée Harlow on May 2, 1934, joining siblings, Jacques, Kiki (Marie), Patrick and Rene. He grew up an altar boy at the Immaculate Conception Church and shoveled its parking lot in the winters. In high school, Leo hitchhiked to Coyle in Taunton and ran errands for Reardon's Drug Store. He went adventuring west, working on the Southern Pacific Railroad out of Sparks, Nevada in 1953-1954 and east to Germany to parachute out of planes in the Army's 11th Airborne Division from 1954-1958. After returning to Easton, Leo captained the tennis team and graduated from Stonehill College with an English degree in 1960 and was a Teamster in Local 653 for 38 years. He and Helen were married in 1980 and established their roots with three children, where Harlow Street meets North Main. During his life well-lived, Leo donated 325 pints of blood and served as a Selectman in Easton from 1981-1986, 1988-1990, and 2000-2003, including a stint as the Chairman of the Board. He joined Easton Council 238 of the Knights of Columbus in 1987, managed the Knight's property as the President of the Columbian Corporation and attained the ranks of 3rd Degree Knight and honorary lifetime member. In 1999, Leo received the Marian Medal in the Diocese of Fall River for his dedicated service to the Immaculate Conception Church as a lector, CCD teacher and Pre-Cana teacher. All who heard his faith rise among the voices of the congregation will remember him singing in the pew beside them. Leo spent his later years walking Main Street to daily mass with his wife, reading books and working in his yard. Leo is survived by his wife of 45 years, three children and six grandchildren he loved deeply: Hazel, Leo, Rowan, Simone, Ella and Lenae. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to My Brother's Keeper in Easton, MA. Leo's Wake will take place next Monday, May 5, from 4-7pm, at Kane Funeral Home (605 Washington St., EASTON, MA). The Immaculate Conception Church (193 Main St., Easton, MA) will host his Funeral Mass the following day, Tuesday, May 6, at 10am.
