Lillian PEARL Obituary
PEARL, Lillian Gill A beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away at home, on October 16, 2025, in Reading, MA. She was born in Somerville, MA in 1933. Lillian was a long-time resident of Winchester, MA, where she raised her family with her husband, Winthrop (Tom), who predeceased her in 1985.
Lillian was the fourth of five children, born at home to George and Alice Gill. She remained closest to the two who remained in Massachusetts, her older sister, Alice; and her younger brother, Kenneth, until their passing.
Lillian will be remembered as a stylish dresser who enjoyed gathering with her friends and family. She loved to laugh, especially over the antics of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their dogs. She volunteered with the En Ka Society in Winchester for many years, including as the chairperson of its biggest fund-raiser, the En Ka Fair. She also volunteered with the Friends of Winchester Hospital and was a key contributor to her church, The Parish of the Epiphany. Later in life, Lillian returned to work at Nichols Research in Wakefield, as a receptionist and office manager, where her winning smile and pleasant demeanor was noted by both staff and clients.
A few years after the early passing of her husband of 28 years, Lillian moved to Reading, where she built new friendships and played host to her two grand-daughters for much-loved visits with "Nanny." She stayed quite active and often helped friends by driving them to their appointments, in addition to following the exploits of her grand-daughters during their school-age and college years.
Lillian leaves behind her two sons, Richard of Concord and Randall, who lived and supported her for the past five years in Reading. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (Lisa) Pearl, whom she thought of as one of her own; and her two granddaughters, Stephanie (Stevie) of Bethesda, MD (Peter Larson) and Jessie of Tucson, AZ (James Raymond), who gave her great joy and a reason to live after the death of her husband. Her great-grandchildren, Charles Pearl-Larson (five years-old), Zachary Pearl-Raymond (two years), Lucie Pearl-Larson (18 months) and Rowan Pearl-Raymond (one month), provided big smiles to Lillian right up until her passing.
The family will have a private Celebration of Life for Lillian in April 2026. That is the month of her birth and her birthdate is shared (91 years apart!) with her great-granddaughter, Lucie.
