LUCINDA WORTHINGTON Obituary

Worthington, Lucinda Bowditch
Of Truro, MA, formerly of Needham, died peacefully at home on December 6, 2013, surrounded by her daughters and faithful companions Pamet and Pumpkin. She is survived by the love of her life, John, and died the day after their 65th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her beloved daughters and their families: Jan Worthington and partner Lon Morris of Truro, Pamela Franklin of Portland, Maine, Susan Brennan and husband Bill of Westwood, Mary Worthington, of Weston, and Patricia Worthington of Brewster. She was the cherished Nana and Nanny to Spencer and Cecilie Brennan of Somerville, Carson Brennan of Chicago, Ill, Jessica Franklin of Los Angeles, CA, Anabel Franklin of New York City, NY, Carla, Derek and Kyle Kachadurian, of Weston, and Aidan Kinsella of Brewster. She leaves many loving nieces, nephews and cousins from around the country. Cindy was always engaged in community activism. From her early days in Needham where she was heavily involved in the first teenage drop in center, to her years as a social worker working for the state of Massachusetts correctional system she was known for her professionalism and sense of empathy. After working for MCI Norfolk for ten years as a social worker she moved back to Truro and was instrumental in the founding of the HIV Aids Counseling Center at Outer Cape Health Services. Again she became known for her kindness and sensitivity in counseling people at risk for HIV. The town of Truro was home to Cindy, where she and John met when they were toddlers. She loved volunteering at Truro Treasures, the AIM thrift shop, and will be sorely missed by her friends near and far. Renowned for her belly laugh and beach plum jelly making, her ability to laugh was her greatest asset and she imparted that strength and sense of playfulness to her family. We are very thankful to Deb Hopkins of Hope Hospice for her tender care of Mom during this time. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Outer Cape Health Services or AIM Thrift Shop of Wellfleet. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Mary's of the Harbor, Provincetown on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 11 AM, where she was married so many years ago.

Cindy
Thank you for your love, and sense of humor, and for putting up with me during my early teens!! You deserved a medal for that alone. Thank you for the love you shared with my dad, and both of his daughters.

My Dearest Nana,

It is rare that the world gets to keep such a beautiful spirit, so I am at peace sharing you with the heavens. Your warmth and kindness infused the world around you, creating friends out of strangers and strengthening the love in our family. Though I will always miss the sound of your captivating laugh during our conversations, and the smell of your bathrobe in an early morning embrace, I will always cherish your unconditional love and unbounded support. It will be hard visiting Truro with you gone. But I will look for you in the ripples of the Pamet, in the soft breeze of the Back Beach, and in the sunset over the Bay, and we will continue our conversations. I love you always, Nana. Talk to you soon.
