LYNN LOSCUTOFF Obituary

LOSCUTOFF, Lynn Leon Of Florida and Gloucester, MA, died peacefully in her home in Naples, Florida on May 16th, due to natural causes. Lynn was a dynamic woman, innovator, painter, teacher, author, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Those who knew her, loved her, they knew she was exciting, interesting, and never dull. Lynn was fun and full of life and love. Born August 10th, 1934, in San Francisco, she was the daughter of Edward Joseph and Mabel Leon. She was the sister to Agnes and Alice and brother Edward. A lifelong learner, Lynn was a student at the University of Southern California, Boston University, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum School Boston. She received her Bachelors in speech from Staley College in 1959. She married James Loscutoff in September 1952. After getting married, in they moved to Boston, where Jim signed with the Boston Celtics. "Jungle" Jim helped his team go on to win 7 championship games. Post Celtics, Lynn and Jim moved to Andover, MA, where they started Camp Evergreen, a summer day camp for boys and girls. Evergreen continues to this day, and is run by their son "Little" Jim Loscutoff. The business has been family run and loved for over 55 years. Lynn was a lover of art and culture. From 1976-1984, Lynn served as the Executive Director of Boston's prestigious Copley Society in Boston. One of her greatest passions was painting. Lynn loved the expressive quality of watercolors and painting in the plein air during her travels around the world. She felt that "painters were philosophers, psychologists, mathematicians, chemists, scientists and poets" and lived her life this way. Lynn was an accomplished artist and teacher. Lynn taught painting in Rockport, MA and Naples, FL, as well as on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary 2, World Cruise, Queen Elizabeth and European Tour, Royal Princess. She studied and painted all over the world, but one of her fondest memories was painting in Monet's garden. She is a published author with several books on painting and memoir of her life with Jungle Jim and her experience as a "Celtic Wife." She is survived by her sister Agnes, her three children James Jr., Holly Lynn and Carol Alice, her 9 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service at the First Congregational Church in Rockport, MA on Friday, May 25 at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with interment at the Seaside Cemetery in Lanesville, MA.
