MAE ROTH Obituary

ROTH, Mae N. (Nehlig) Of Marshfield, passed on Feb. 27, 2013 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of Robert "Bob" with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Mother of Barbara Mae Roth of Kingston, Robert G. Roth of Kissimmee, FL, Laurence A. Roth of Windham, NH and Peggy Roth Major of Scituate. Mae is lovingly survived by six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and by her younger brother Andrew Nehlig of Rydal, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she moved with her family to MA in 1970. With her youngest children in high school, she began a life dedicated to others by volunteering, first at Sunlight House in Scituate (where she lived for 30 years), then at South Shore Hospital where she worked on the 3rd floor of Pratt North and finally many years as a hospice volunteer. Mae was an active member of First Trinitarian Congregational Church of Scituate where she held various positions including chairman of the Diaconate. Mae valued friendships and was careful to maintain contact with the many she befriended over the years. A memorial service is planned for March 9th at 11:00 AM at the First Trinitarian Congregational Church, Scituate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church at 381 Country Way, Scituate, MA 02066. A letter to Mae,

I will miss our visits, I loved hearing about your family, how you wished your boys lived closer ! Bob lives in FL and Larry in NH..... You were so grateful to have your girls, Barbra and Peggy so close by. You spoke about your wonderful husband who always took such good care of you. (you liked that he took over the cooking) You were so proud of everyone in your family..... You lit up when you spoke about Peggy's art , and you were so proud of Barbra's teaching career ... I didn't have the pleasure of getting to know your sons, but I'm proud to say that your daughters are my dear friends. Barbra welcomed me into her family and for that I am thankful. I know your walking the beach collecting shells watching over all the people you love. I will miss you Mae, but you will forever be in my heart.

With all my love,
Jaynie Travaline

Mae's photo captures her warmth and smile exactly as I remember it. I grew up attending FTCC with my mom and I have fond memories of Mae's smiling face each week in church. She will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayer go out to her entire family during this difficult time!
