I studied with Professor Schwarz both at the undergraduate and MA level at UNH for many years in the late 1980s and early 90s and he sat on my MA thesis committee. He was one of the kindest, congenial persons I ever had the opportunity to work with. I always looked forward to his courses (I even sat some of them twice, once at the undergrad level and once at the graduate level) and completed several independent studies with him. His dedication to his students was unwavering and he was a great asset to the university. I will always remember him fondly and with great respect, and of course I have never and will never forget the silly history jokes he used to tell. I will miss knowing he is in the world with us who remain. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and close friends. May his memory forever be a blessing. I remember Marc as my Bates College classmate. He was alway sweet, kindly, and a thinking, generous spirit. Sadly, upon graduation, we went in separate directions and I lost contact with him, but was so happy to encounter him at our 50th Bates reunion, still the same fine person. I hope that those to whom he was especially dear will find happy memories to comfort them, and will hold him dear.

My sincerest sympathy to you Linda and the rest of the family members. I hope you know and understand my thoughts are close at hand. If memories stay within the thoughts and and love within the heart, then how can it be truly said that dear ones ever depart. I hope these words will be of some comfort to you.
