MARGARET BROWNE Obituary

BROWNE, Margaret "Peggy" (Mitchell) Age 92, of Dorchester, entered into eternal rest, on Friday, February 17, 2023. Born in Dun Chaoin (Dunquin) Co. Kerry, Ireland, Peggy was the daughter of the late Daniel & Catherine (Hoare) Mitchell of Ireland. Peggy immigrated to America in 1954. She married Jeremiah Browne in 1961 and raised their three children together in Dorchester, until his death, all too soon, in 1983. Peggy worked in the private home healthcare field for over 50 years while raising her family. She loved going to dances, Irish music, shopping with friends and a glass of apple whiskey at night. She was a prankster who loved a good joke and could make a cup of tea last for hours. Her big blue eyes were as beautiful as her favorite flower- the blue hydrangea. A devout Catholic, proud and strong Irish woman, Peggy's love for her family was unconditional and unwavering. Peggy's utmost priority was raising her three children and spending time with her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Peggy was predeceased by her dear husband, Jeremiah Browne and her six siblings, Maura, Michael, Maurice, Sylvester, Daniel & Kathleen. She is survived by her children, Kathleen A. Browne of Taunton, John J. Browne and his wife, Dina B. Browne of Dedham, Thomas A. Browne of Dorchester; and her daughter-in-law, Helen Browne of Marshfield; her grandchildren, Rosemarie Hoye and her husband, Daniel C. Hoye, Thomas L. Browne, Elizabeth Sevy and her husband, Patrick Sevy, Meaghan Browne, Nicole Browne, Rachel Browne, Neve Browne and Madeline Browne; her great-grandchildren, Liam, Holly, Lily, Henry & Margaret; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, February 24, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1725 Dorchester Ave., DORCHESTER at 10:00 AM. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held Thursday, February 23, at the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St. (near Gallivan Blvd.), DORCHESTER, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
