Margaret E. FLEMING

FLEMING, Margaret E. (Adams) Of Dover, MA and Cambria, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2024, and is now pain-free after six long years of treatment. Born on October 14, 1948 at Lenox Hospital in Manhattan, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Edith E. Adams (Sigler). After graduating from Princeton High School, Princeton, NJ in 1966, Peggy earned a BA degree in Sociology from the College of Wooster in 1970. She married her college sweetheart, Dave Fleming, on April 10, 1971 in Wooster, Ohio. During college, she worked as a counselor and maid at Jenny Lake Lodge, Grand Tetons, WY. She then moved to Boston for business training at the Katherine Gibbs School. Following graduation, Peggy held Administrative Assistant positions in the Campus Housing Departments of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA and the University of California, Irvine, CA, following a move to the West Coast. Also, she was Assistant Manager for a 244 apartment F. H. A. complex in Sacramento, CA, working with low-income families. Following relocation back to Boston in 1977, Peggy focused on raising two young sons and caregiving for extended family members. She was involved in a variety of causes, including serving as a cub scout den leader and volunteering at Pilgrim Church, Sherborn, MA and in the Dover-Sherborn schools. Peggy was a Libra, the balance and roots of the family. She enjoyed tradition and her routine, but could also be an adventurous risk-taker. She loved playing jokes on people, loved animals, including her dalmatians, Toby and Cassey and was always welcoming to friends and family. Peggy enjoyed solving the Sunday Boston Globe crossword puzzle with husband, Dave, playing cards, Scrabble and Monopoly with family, reading with the grandkids, lunch out with close friends, traveling with children and grandchildren to Alaska, Italy, the Caribbean and the West Coast, walking along the Pacific Ocean and watching news and sports on TV. She was an avid Boston sports fan, becoming a Boston Celtics shareholder in 1992. According to her grandchildren, she made the best brownies in the world. Peggy was an optimist with a great sense of humor, an ever-present twinkle in her eyes and a wonderful laugh. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Douglas Adams (of Natick, MA). She is survived by her devoted husband and primary caregiver, David Fleming (of Dover, MA); two beloved sons, Brian Fleming (of Alexandria, MN) and Stephen Fleming and daughter-in? law, Sisa Suriel, Northport, NY. She is also survived by her niece, Jessica Adams; and grand?nephew, Enzo Codispoti of Ocean Grove, NJ; and brother-in-law, Alex Fleming and family, El Dorado Hills, CA. Peggy was a doting grandmother of her seven talented grandchildren, David, Christian, Jacob, Andrew, Javier, Alma and Francisco. The family will travel to Cambria, CA on the Central California Coast over Spring break for an informal Celebration of Peggy's Life, with west coast family and friends, in the sunshine and by the sea. Later this Spring, the family plans to have a Memorial for Peggy in the Boston area.
