MARGOT MERRILL Obituary

MERRILL, Margot M. Of Revere, formerly of Winthrop, peacefully passed away on May 4, 2022. She was predeceased by her father, Gary Merrill, and mother, Bette Davis. She was the sister to Michael Merrill of Brookline who loved her so much. She is survived by Michael; and her nephews and their families, Matthew Merrill and his wife, Celeste Lohr and Cameron Merrill and his wife, Caitlin Kelly Merrill and sons, Davis and Teddy Merrill; and her sister Barbara Davis and her family.

Margot was a special person, gifted in her own way. She led a difficult and challenging life but was able to persevere to find a world of happiness and joy. She had a love for people which was reciprocated by all who knew her. Her laugh was contagious, and she had a keen sense of humor. She was a survivor on many levels, including overcoming a bout with breast cancer.

In her eyes, she lived a charmed life filled with love from her family and her caregivers. Margot loved sports, in her youth as a participant with special Olympics and later as a Boston sports fan of Pedro Martinez, David Ortiz, Tom Brady, and Paul Pierce. We will miss her.

Margot's family thanks Bay Cove Human Services for its care and support for her over many years and Care Dimensions, which provided hospice services over the past several months.

A private Celebration of Margot's Life will be held at a future date. For those who wish to celebrate Margot, please donate to the Gary Merrill Memorial Foundation in Margot's name, in care of Michael Merrill, 100 State Street, Suite 200, Boston, MA 02109.

I met Margo on several occasions while she lived in Winthrop. I was working at Andiamo´s a hair salon in Winthrop Center, she use to come in with her friend Katie, who got her hair done there. Katie told me who Margo was, and me being a fan of her mom engaged in conversation with her. She was a delight to talk to. She will be missed. My deepest condolences to her brother Michael Merrill. R.I.P. Margo.

Margot was a very gifted poet. Profound. Filled with unique imagery and metaphors. An astonishing sensitivity and an actual brilliance. I am honored to have a poem she wrote for me and will never forget the moment she gently presented it to me.....

I had the delightful pleasure of working with Margot at Winthrop St She was a character and an actress in her own right. She took us to the limit in caring for her and always made our work with her worth it . Margot had a smile and humor about her that was most unique. On my worst days she could somehow make me laugh, and just love her. Thank you Margot for all you have given to me and all you have taught me just by knowing you .

I´m just seeing Margot´s obituary now. I got to know her while working at Lockland School in Geneva, New York. She was a beautiful young woman when I knew her, and she always had a smile on her face. On one occasion, I flew with her to Boston to meet up with her father. She so loved visiting him. Condolence's to her family...

Requiem aeternam donna ei Domine. (I know her story by an article on a women's review in 60's. Being a child, I had been sensitized to persons with disabilities)
