Marie Bonfardeci Obituary

Mrs. Marie M. Bonfardeci 1928 - 2017
FRANKFORT - Mrs. Marie M. Bonfardeci, 88, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, in her home, with her family by her side.
She was born in Utica on August 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen Wegrzyn Gauthier, and she attended Utica Free Academy. She was married to Leo N. Bonfardeci on June 5, 1954, in St. Joseph's Church, Utica. They had a blessed union of 60 years until Leo's passing on August 4, 2014. Marie was last employed by Mohawk Data Science, Herkimer, until her retirement in 1991. While she was employed, Marie made many friends, especially her friend, Madeline Lombardo. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. She was a wonderful mother, who made a loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren. Marie's greatest enjoyment was spending time with and caring for her family.
Marie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, AnnMarie and Joseph Viti and Kathleen and James Montague, all of Frankfort; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Leo and Donna Bonfardeci, of Chittenango, and John Bonfardeci, of Sandwich, MA; seven grandchildren, Jessica and her husband, John DeCicco, Melissa and her husband, Vincent LaBella, Rebecca Viti, Jolynn Viti, Nicholas Berry, Carrie and her husband, Andrew Hoeffer, and Alyssa Bonfardeci; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Arlene and Vincent Maneen, of Frankfort, Doris Austin, of Utica, and Beatrice and Thomas Rabbia, of Utica; one brother, Louis Gauthier, of Grant, NY; her in-laws, Anthony Bonfardeci, of Utica, Frances Ciola, of Utica, Donna Gauthier, of Manlius, and Raymond Paciello, of Utica; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Sylvester Gauthier; one sister, Laura Paciello; and one sister-in-law, Mary Gauthier.
Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:45 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery later this spring. Calling hours will be Friday, March 10th, from 4-8 in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie's memory may be made to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 414 S. Frankfort St., Frankfort, NY 13340. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Marie's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to her caretakers, Lisa Surace and Nancy Lombardo, for their dedication and assistance with helping Marie stay in her home of 58 years. We would also like to extend a special thanks to Hospice.

Aunt Marie was always a favorite aunt of ours. Pleasant and humorous and a good friend of my mom. I only have good memories of this dear Lady. I am sure that she joins her husband in God's Heavenly Kingdom..
