Marie KELLEHER Obituary
KELLEHER, Marie (Morrissette) A longtime resident of Winchester, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, November 4, at Brooksby Village in Peabody, just 23 days short of 100 years. Her husband Peter, from whom she was inseparable throughout their 76 years of marriage, survives her at five months past the century mark. Marie was a devoted spouse, loving mother, as well as doting grandmother and great-grandmother.
Born on November 27, 1925, in Franklin, NH, to Mary (Murray) and Horace Morrissette, Marie graduated from Franklin High School, and then obtained her RN License at Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, followed by service during WWII in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. Following the conclusion of World War II, Marie met and fell in love with Peter, who returned to Boston following his heroic service in the 188th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. They married in September 1950.
Predeceased by her son, Tom; Marie is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Lynne; her daughter, Ann Lamond and her husband, John Lamond; her four grandchildren, David Lamond and his wife, Holly Lamond, Maggie Lamond Shipp and her husband, Nate Shipp, Matthew Kelleher and his wife, Gabriela and Amy Kelleher Royer and her husband, Brad Royer. Great- grandmother of Charlie, Jack and Winston.
Marie's nursing career included service for many years in the maternity ward of Winchester Hospital, moving back to MGH in the 1960s to join the medical research team pioneering hip replacements and then as member of the hospital's Infectious Disease Division from which she retired.
Marie and Peter's lengthy life together, and their many achievements, exemplified the best of the Greatest Generation, which their many descendants enormously benefitted from, and to whom they will pay eternal honor.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 14, at 11AM, at the Brooksby Village Chapel (McIntosh Building), 100 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA 01960. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Citizen's Inn Haven from Hunger, 71 Wallis Street, Peabody,MA 01960. Lane Funeral Home
