To the O'Brien Family,
My apologies for this late note, but I just learned of Marlene's death yesterday when I read of it in the Boston College Magazine. She was a friend of mine at BC when we both served in student government together. Marlene was smart, hardworking, funny and one of the most ethical people I knew at BC. I remember her very fondly. My sincere condolences for your loss.

I was saddened to learn, just yesterday, that Marlene had passed. We were friends for the last 10 years, sometimes seeing each other weekly, but with stretches of months in between when life got busy. The last time I stopped by her house to visit must have been just a week or two before her hospitalization. She was looking and feeling as well as she had in several years; I will cherish that memory. Rest in Peace, Marlene.

"Sisters laugh together in the good times and comfort and support each other through the difficult moments in life. Their loss leaves a void in our lives that is so hard to fill." Author unknown. I miss you so much Marlene, their are days that I cannot believe you are gone. I will love you until the day I die. Until we meet again, RIP my dear sister. Love always, Maggie

To the Obrien Family,
I was traveling on business when I heard the news about Marlene. I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Marlene for several years at MembersFirst. She took care of us underlings and was so funny and a spitfire. I will never forget her helping me through a very difficult time in my life. She organized my going away party when I decided to relocate with the company to FL. That was Marlene, always putting others first and taking care of her work family.
I hope reading how Marlene touched other people's lives brings you some piece and solace during this very difficult time.
Keeping you in my prayers,
Robin Michael

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Marlene O'Brien. I worked with her at MembersFirst and have many fond memories during our time together. She was the "Office Mom" to many of the young staff and she and I shared many laughs over the years being the grizzled veterans of the team that we were. She was a very warm and kind person with whom you always knew where you stood. I remember her generously opening her home to the company for our annual summer golf outing and will never forget the lobster races in her yard. Marlene was a fun person to work and hang with and she left an impression on those of us who really got to know her. Rest in Peace Marlene.

I knew Marlene from working with her at Spectrum. She was as kind and funny as she was smart. I am sad that the world has lost such a good person, but happy that she will now be in Heaven.
I hope Marlene's family has great memories to carry them through this difficult time.
Remember me
Remember me when the flowers bloom
early in the spring
Remember me on sunny days
in the fun that summer brings
Remember me in the fall
as you walk through leaves of gold.
And in the winter time remember me
in the stories that are told
But most of all remember
each day right from the start
I will be forever near
For I live within your heart.

I worked with Marlene at both Spectrum Associates and MembersFirst. She was very smart and talented when it came to her job but she was also so very kind, thoughtful and giving with her coworkers, fostering a family like culture at both organizations. She is and was loved by all.
Thoughts and prayers for her family.
What lies ahead is no longer bound by our human bodies, restrained by the physicality of time, space and age. There is no more pain, no more ferocious storm to fight.. instead what follows is the most beautiful of days and everlasting peace.

A sudden loss like this one is all the more difficult because there is no time to prepare and no time to say good-bye. My thoughts and prayers are with my friend, Maggie, and with all those in the O'Brien family. May memories bring you comfort and may the faith we share bring you the peace that comes from knowing that Marlene is home with the God who loves us.

Marlene was one of the kindest, most loving and most gentle of people. She was an awesome CFO but more important she had a way of always guiding you to always do the right thing, often when you did not even know she was doing just that.
Heartbreaking to see her pass on so young but no doubt she is at peace. As she lived her life well! We will miss her dearly!,
