Mary was a fixture in my childhood, a vibrant and loving friend to my mother. She took a strong interest in our lives and, indeed, in life overall. Her intelligent, passionate views on politics were always a joy to listen to. We visited Mary a few years ago and we wish we had done it more often. What a treasure she was!
