MARY BARRY Obituary

BARRY, Mary The loving daughter of the late James and Eleanor Barry of Boston, MA; and the devoted sister of the late Robert Barry of Dedham, MA. Mary is remembered by her brother, James Barry and his wife, Marge of Plymouth, MN; her brother, David Barry and his wife, Mary of Norwood, MA; and her sister-in-law, Karen Barry of Dedham, MA. Mary is also remembered by her seven adoring nieces, their loving partners, and her adventurous and caring grandniece and five grandnephews. Mary found tremendous happiness in sharing their lives, joys, and challenges throughout her lifetime. Her generous nature and kind support were well-known to her family and to an extensive group of friends and coworkers. She touched the hearts of strangers with her warm presence and unconditional acceptance. A graduate of Regis College in Weston, MA, Mary began a life of selfless service as an English teacher before she transitioned to her longtime career as an Area Director for the Newton South Norfolk Area of the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services. Mary was tireless in her service to the individuals she assisted and was an advocate for them and their families. In retirement, Mary was trained as a SHINE counselor who proudly assisted senior citizens in understanding and accessing the Medicare benefits system, available services, and supplemental programs. Her work was comprehensive, and she always provided closure and support to individuals if necessary. Mary and her tremendous life of giving are honored today and every day by her loving community. Visiting Hours are from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the Mortimer N. Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree. A Prayer Service will be on Thursday, February 2, from 10 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.

Such a dear friend Mary was to our whole family on the day my daughter got married. Mary took care of my mother who was well along with Alzheimer´s, so my mom could be at the wedding and we didn´t have to worry about my mom. Mary was a saint for my mom and for us. She´ll always be a saint to us for all of eternity
