Mary Michael CONNOLLY

1930 - 2025

CONNOLLY, SNDdeN, Sr. Mary Michael Age 94, went peacefully home to her good God, on March 10, 2025, at the Saint Julie Billiart Residential Care Center, in Ipswich, MA. She was born Loretta Connolly on September 18, 1930, to parents, John and Mary Jane (Kelly) Connolly. Sister Mary Michael entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on August 1, 1950, making her first vows on January 20, 1953 and her final vows on July 30, 1958. She was a much-loved Sister, who had a genuine interest in others that made her a beloved friend and confidante. Sister Mary Michael was a graduate of St. Charles High School in Woburn, MA and later received a Geriatric Aide Certificate from Worcester State University. For 75 years, she generously worked in various community service ministries. Her ministries brought her to our Notre Dame schools and convents in East Boston, Lynn, Wenham, Cambridge and Ipswich. For 20 years, Sister Mary Michael ministered in Worcester at Notre Dame du Lac as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Her compassion for others shone brightly and she consistently made those around her feel special and valued. Whether through her thoughtful gestures or her ability to listen, Sister Mary Michael enriched the lives of everyone she encountered. Sister Mary Michael is survived by her sister, Louise Viles; her special niece, Lauretta Nguyen; nieces and nephews, faithful friends, the devoted staff at SJB, and the Associates and Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Maloney, Ann Joyce and Rita Duran. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10:30 am, at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich, MA, preceded by a Wake Service at 9:30am and sharing of memories at 10:00am. Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 351 Broadway, Everett, MA 02149. The Conway Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., PEABODY, MA, is directing arrangements.
