Maurice was my mentor when it came to fire alarms.; Every time I have a problem, I look up to the sky and still ask him for his advice. I think of him all of the time and always tell stories about him. He is sorely missed.

My condolences to the Pilette family. I had the pleasure of working with Maurice on a number of projects that he worked on at Tufts University. He was a professional with a quiet but confident demeanor. A true gentleman that was dedicated to his profession.

Maurice was not only a friend but he was a mentor to me for over 30-years of working on many projects in many towns together. Despite his busy schedule and life, whenever I had a question, he would always answer his phone to talk and advise. He will be sorely missed by myself and countless people in the fire protection industry.

My condolences to the family on your loss. Maurice was perhaps the most unassuming man that I´ve ever known in this profession. During my many years working with him when I was at NFPA, even though I was the one who was supposed to have all the answers, Maurice was one of the people that I would call on occasion to help me figure something out. He gladly shared his viewpoint and could often supplement it with one or more projects where his experiences educated me on something I was unsure of. Never did he make you feel like you asked a silly question - rather he made sure that you understood the fundamentals of the question you started with. He was an excellent contributor to numerous NFPA technical committees that I had staffed over the years, as well as an instructor for several of the NFPA seminar programs. He has not only improved fire safety for the residents of Massachusetts through his long-time commitment to numerous state and local boards but also for all those who have benefited from the knowledge and experience that he shared through the codes and standards development process.

The world lost a good man. I met Maurice in 1980 when we were both young and upcoming Fire Protection engineers. We maintained a professional relationship through all these years. We taught a course together on sprinkler system design for Boston chapter of ASPE. He shared his knowledge and insights freely. May he rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Pilette family.
