MELVIN MIZNER Obituary

MIZNER, Melvin "Mickey" Melvin "Mickey" Mizner of Swampscott, MA (Peabody, MA native, formerly of Marblehead, MA and Boynton Beach, FL) entered into rest surrounded by his family on November 22, 2025 at the age of ninety three. He was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia Malina Mizner. Cherished father of Ann (Stuart) Mizner McKay of Marblehead, Laura Mizner of Washington DC, Richard (Linda) Mizner of Cambridge, MA, and Robin (Matt) Friedman of Marblehead. Proud Papa of Mason, Maddie, Malina, Samantha and Reese. Favorite and youngest son of the late Isadore and Rose Mizner. He was predeceased by his adoring siblings, Bertha (Murray) Rubin, Sidney (Rita) Mizner, Ruth (Rae) Jack Sigal, and Milton (Grace) (Kathy) Mizner. He will be missed dearly by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and great, great nephews. Mickey was the last of his generation, a first born American generation that was founded on courage, big dreams, hard work, loyalty and commitment to a better life than their parents. They had the courage to come to America to live the dream. They dreamed big, worked hard, loved fiercely and built lasting legacies. Mickey was born on the kitchen table on 8 Sanborn Street in Peabody, MA, a true Tanner. He was raised in Peabody, MA and attended Peabody schools, graduated from Peabody High School in 1950 where he proudly served as president of his high school class. He then attended Tufts University and Tufts Dental School. His relationship with Peabody lasted for decades. He was an active member and served as president of the Peabody Rotary. From his office on Main Street he treated three generations of patients for fifty years, with his wide smile, warm laugh and patient and gentle demeanor. As a child Mickey was an avid baseball player and fan. He loved telling stories of his youth working as a soda jerk in Peabody Square. As a young man, he spent several summers working in the Catskills as a waiter. Mickey spent the early years of his dental practice in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. Upon his return, he met and married his lifelong love of almost 65 years, Sylvia Malina. They married and raised their family in Marblehead and then began to split their time between MA and FL. Mickey and Sylvia spent their final years together in Swampscott at The Residence, near their children and grandchildren, where Mickey was beloved by the staff and fellow residents. Mickey loved sports, a good game of poker, and travel. He was fortunate to travel the world with Sylvia and very dear friends. Mickey was loved by so many friends and will deeply missed.
