Dear Dyan, Matt and Melissa,
I am one of many childhood friends of Mike from Staunton, Illinois. I grew up with Mike from kindergarten all the way through senior year, and beyond. Our Mothers both worked at the bank and were friends for many years. I played kick the can on a summer evening at his house and double-dated with him to our senior Prom. And we all played and rode bikes and laughed and cried and studied and practiced and partied our way through childhood and high school. I am not overstating it when I say that Mike was the most popular boy in our class - period, from Kindergarten through graduation. A mutual dear friend recently called him the “All American boy” on FB and that’s exactly what he was. Smart, oh so very smart, gifted in every sport (basketball, football, track, baseball, to name a few), a talented band member (trumpet), and even successful in his dramatic turns in high school plays. Simply put, he was good at everything he did. And even so, he was kind to everyone and respectful and humble. We, and I know I speak for so many in our town, are all shocked and saddened by his sudden passing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during your grief and beyond. But please know that there are many who grieve with you from afar, even if you don’t know us, over the tremendous loss of this good man.
With our deepest sympathy,
Nancy (Bickley) Collora and Jim Collora

Dyan, Matt and Melissa, we are so incredibly sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. It is unimaginable; Mike was always so full of kindness and passion. His family was everything to him. We loved sharing the fields when our kids were young and it was a pleasure to listen when Mike would share his children’s adventures and accomplishments as they grew into wonderful adults. Dyan, Melissa, Matt and extended family. Words cannot describe how sorry we are for your loss. Mike and I became very close over the last several years playing golf every opportunity we had to play. Mike loved his family, his friends, golf and life so much. He truly loved each of you and would always talk on the golf course how much he loved his family and how proud he was of Melissa and Matt’s life accomplishments as they grew into adulthood. Mike had a passion for talking about golf, football, politics, current events and would always stand firm on his beliefs and opinion. We all know Mike had a strong opinion and passion for his beliefs. He also had a very caring heart for everyone. Mike was my best friend and I will miss him very much. I hope you are playing golf on the best courses and drinking the best Bloody Mary’s buddy. We loved our bloody’s. I will see you on the first tee when we meet again my friend. Love, Shawn, Jody, Megan, Paige and Emma

It's hard to put into words how great of a guy/father/husband Mike (aka Mr.Dal Pozzo) was. If you knew him, you know what I mean.
I had the luxury of knowing Mike since my childhood as his son Matt is a very close friend and they lived down the street. Mike was ALWAYS there for his family and friends. Every year we play pond hockey at Castene field and every year Mike would walk the dog down (off leash of course) and visit and see how we were doing and laugh at how bad Matt was at hockey lol.
Mike will be greatly missed by ALL. To the Dal Pozzo family, I am so sorry for your loss and please let me know if there is anything I can do.
