Of all the teachers I had throughout high school and college, Dr. Dempsey was the sharpest, the toughest, the most passionate. A man who could recall the most obscure dates or slightest details of any historical event, he taught his students how to tie it all together, to look at things from all angles, to genuinely question how and why. His historical prowess was boundless, and while I recall his style of teaching to have been more demanding than most, I am certain that I am not alone in the respect I hold for him as an educator. Quick to test or challenge you, to earn his approval on any response or insight would immediately make you feel empowered. Forever grateful to have had the pleasure to learn from you; As a champion of history and fact you will be missed.

Dr. Dempsey taught me how to write and always challenged us to be the very best students, writers and people we could be.

I still use the writing and critical thinking skills that he helped develop during our time at Baker Street and consider him a mentor and a friend.

Dr. D - you will be missed! Thank you for being you and having such an impact on all of those around you.
