Michael KLIGFELD Obituary
He was granted two decades, after a terrible diagnosis of a virulent and deadly lymphoma, that he statistically ought never to have had. He witnessed the birth and thriving of 6 grandchildren, completed his psychiatric practice and career on his own terms, flew his beloved Piper Navajo for as long as made sense, and found a way through what is normally a ravaging disease and what could have been a cruel cognitive decline with almost no suffering. With equanimity. With courage and optimism and a zest for life.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Caryl (Engleman) Kligfeld; his children, Dr. Jennifer (Steven) Novick and Rabbi Adam (Havi) Kligfeld; and grandchildren, Noa, Yael, Ayden, Hadass, Dafna, and Lev.
Funeral will be held at the Robert E. Shure and Son Funeral Home, NEW HAVEN, CT, at 11am, on Wednesday, December 11th, with Burial to follow around 2pm at Sharon Gardens, Valhalla, NY. Shiva information available upon request. Contributions in Michael's memory can be made to the Friends of Magen David Adom, the Friends of the IDF, or Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Dear Caryl, I apologize for the delay in my condolences. Let me explain. I was randomly on the Shure website a couple of days ago and discovered that Michael had passed away. I am so sorry. I watched part of his funeral service and was so moved by the comments of his close friend as well as those of your granddaughter. Michael's life was certainly rich, and it was clear to me that he shared his love of so many things in life with the people that were most important to him. I am confident that the memories of experiences shared with your friends and family will bring much comfort to you.
