MICHAEL T. MCCARTHY

1946 - 2019

McCARTHY, Michael T. July 31, 1946 - April 18, 2019. Passed away April 18, 2019, at the age of 72. Mike was born in Boston, MA, and grew up in Boston until the age 64 when he moved to Portland, OR, to start a new adventure with his son. Mike worked for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for 26 years as a bus driver in Boston. He was extremely popular amongst all of his passengers across numerous routes with his time at the "T." An avid sailor, Mike sailed navigated oceans across the world, including Australia, the Caribbean, and his beloved Boston Harbor. Affectionately referred to as the "The Captain" by friends, he was a popular & loving man who was always the life of the party & a true master story teller. Michael attended Catholic Memorial High School in Boston, MA, & his military service includes his enlistment in the Army Reserves. Son of Michael C. McCarthy & Evelyn R. Rogers. Michael is survived by his son & best friend, Michael James Donahue McCarthy of Portland, OR, & his beloved sister, Elizabeth A. Condon of West Roxbury, MA, & his late sister, Donna M. Cameron. He will be missed by many friends around the world. A Memorial Service will be held at the Crystal Ballroom on Saturday, May 11, 2019, from 2-4 PM, located at 1332 W. Burnside St., Portland, OR 97209.
