MICHAEL MCNALLY Obituary

McNALLY, Michael Doyle CEO Maverick Corp. Michael Doyle McNally, of South Boston, died peacefully on November 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at his children's home. Born March 3, 1961 to Margaret Doyle McNally in Wallingford, Connecticut. He was the devoted father of Caroline McNally (engaged to Britton Shuler) and Michael McNally, Jr.; and husband of Kathleen Phelan McNally, all of South Boston. He also leaves his siblings, Siobhan McNally, MD and her husband Mark Liponis, MD of Lenox, Bryan McNally and his wife Joanne of Natick, and the late Peter McNally, Jr. He is also survived by many cousins, with special mention to Beth Doyle Lima; and nieces and nephews: Tim Liponis (Catherine Shi), Brenna Liponis (Alex Glasgow), Matthew Liponis, James McNally (Bianca D'Antonio), Megan McNally, Katherine Lima, and Brendan Labanara; as well as grandnieces, Avery & Rhea Liponis and Grace Glasgow. He also leaves his beloved adopted family in Connemara, with Roisin, the caretaker of Boysie, Boots, Aurora, Bella, and many more beloved animals, and of course his devoted Newfoundland, Guinness, who never left his side. In September of 2023 he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. He never once wavered in his fight, always pushing forward and never giving up. Throughout his fourteen month-long battle, he lived with his daughter Caroline McNally and his son Michael McNally, who were his roommates and then caretakers. Michael's zest and love for life will never be replicated. He is an amazing self-made, loving, and kind man. And his unwavering support for his children, loving them unconditionally and putting them before anything else was unmatched. His accomplishments were many and his determination, vision, grace, laughter, and heart was seen in all he did. He is a proud graduate of Catholic Memorial, where he broke records in football and track and field, and Boston College. In 1996, he created Maverick Corporation- named after his Samoyed, Maverick. His grit and determination was always present, propelling Maverick from a small company, out of the back of a bar in South Boston, to a successful multi-national corporation and his vision for Errislannan, in Connemara, a place where he felt truly at home. But what truly distinguished him from many was how he treated others. He was a man who never met a stranger. His love and respect for others, regardless of where they came from, was his magic. So give a Red Breast Irish Whiskey toast to a man who inspired and changed so many lives for the better. A special thanks to his medical teams at Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana Farber, and his home health aide, Abby, from Peace of Mind who, along with his family, helped comfort him in his last hours. He will be deeply missed and his presence will always be felt. Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, November 30th, from 4-8pm, at 1 Westinghouse Plz., Bldg. D., Hyde Park, MA 02136. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 2nd, at 11am in St. Brigid of Kildare Church, 841 East Broadway, South Boston. Interment in Errislannan Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland. Caroline, Mike, and family,
Oh how my heart aches for you. I am grateful to have been acquainted with your family since Caroline and I were at Jackson School all those years ago. My fondest memories of Mike were spontaneous days on his boat on the Cape when he would let us go tubing. He had such a kind and generous heart, and he loved his children more than anything in the world. Let his memory, kindness, and strength live on through his beautiful children and family. Love to you all. -Aisling Walsh

I am just so, so sorry for your loss. Mr McNally (still couldn´t call him Mike, even as an adult!) always said "hi honey, how ya doin" with a smile and a hug in his raspy voice, every time I saw him. We are so lucky to have been neighbors for so many years. Love you. Ireland lost a good one.

Dear Peg, Siobhan, and Bryan,
I am so very sorry about Michael. We were in touch over the years, often after I´d spotted a Maverick truck on the streets of Boston. I was very happy to see him in person at South five years ago (40th hs, 43rd Weeks, 46th Hyde... not that I´m counting).
All our sympathy,
Carolyn, Wendy, Jean and Michael Artin
