Michael NDWIGA Obituary

NDWIGA, Michael Mutuma Of Roslindale, passed unexpectedly, after a brief illness traveling to Kenya, April 22, 2024, at age 44. Born in Nairobi, Mike moved to the US in 2008 and opened his business, Mike Locs and Braids in 2012. He was recognized as "Undisputed King of Locs" in Boston and on November 7, 2015 was proclaimed "Mike Ndwiga Day in the City of Boston" by the Boston City Council, in recognition of his community contributions. Mike was also a DJ, playing reggae and Afropop at venues around the city and on b87fm. Mike is survived by his children, Genevieve Gicuku Ndwiga and Roman Ndwiga Gagarin of Roslindale; his parents, Rosemary and Steven; his sisters, Joyce and Flora and brother, Peter, all of Nairobi. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia of the UK. A Funeral was held in Nairobi in May. A Memorial Service will be held, June 2, at 1pm, at the Roslindale Congregational Church, followed by a Celebration of Life/Reception, 2-5pm on Birch St. plaza in Roslindale Square.
