MONROE ENGEL Obituary

Engel, Monroe Age 93, died in DeRham House in Cambridge on November 29 after a long illness. He was a retired professor of English at Harvard, a passionate reader, novelist and critic. He was married to Brenda Sartorius Engel for 68 years and had four children: Robin, Winslow, Stephanie and Matthew. He also leaves eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service is being planned and the date and place will be made public as soon and they are finalized. Donations can be made in his memory to DeRham House, 65 Chilton St.,Cambridge, MA 02138.

I am so sorry for your loss and the world's loss. Monroe was one of the best, kindest, most forbearing people I've ever known. I will always remember him with both awe and affection.
