NELSON EVERTS Obituary

EVERTS, Nelson T. "Bud" Of Wellesley passed away peacefully in the early morning hours July 8th at the age of 90. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elinor 'Ellie" Gaudin Everts of 60 years and three sons, David of Medfield and his wife Rhonda, Robert of Needham and his wife Janine and Albert of Boston. "Grandpa Bud" is also survived by seven grandchildren, William of Boston, Spencer of Boston, Katie of Needham, Brook of Berlin, Germany, Harrison of Medfield, Griffin of Medfield and Nelson of Boston. The youngest son of Albert P. Everts Sr. and Fanny Tower Everts, Mr. Everts grew up in Newton with his brother the late Albert P. Everts Jr. and his sister the late Carolyn Everts Stewart. Bud was a 1944 graduate of Newton High School and a 1950 graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine where he was president of his class, president of Delta Upsilon, captain of the varsity tennis team and the men's singles tennis champion in the State of Maine. Both an avid golfer and tennis player well into his eighties, Nelson was a member of Wellesley Country Club, Needham Tennis Club, Lake Sunapee Country Club, Needham Pool and Racquet Club and The Badminton and Tennis Club in Boston. Mr. Everts enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Everts spent a majority of his work career at The First National Bank of Boston in the Trust Department and is a former Board of Director of The New England Home for Little Wanderers, Board Member of the Wellesley Community Center and long time member of The Second Club. Bud might be best remembered by those who knew him well for his integrity, generosity and for being a true gentleman. During his life, he went to great lengths to pass these traits on to his children and grandchildren for which we are all forever grateful. A Memorial Service will be held 11:30 am September 10, 2016 at the Christ Episcopal Church located at 1132 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Friends of Music at the Christ Episcopal Church, 1132 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA 02492. Joan and I had the opportunity to get to know Bud in his later years, and every meeting was a pleasure. He was such a positive, engaged, and interesting man. I am sure that his family was his great joy, especially the wonderful Ellie, terrific children and grandchildren. We have been enriched by the privilege of knowing him.

Dear Family of Bud,

Ron & I had the pleasure of meeting Bud on just a few occasions and heard so many wonderful things about him through our brother-in-law Bob. He was a quiet yet strong presence in the room. A gracious man with a kind smile.

We are grateful for his military service as part of the Greatest Generation.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Condolences,

Ron & Elaine Martino

To Ellie and all the family, Ah, a light has gone out, but a star shines brightly in the universe. Bud so defined the word "gentleman" as much as the word defined him. May we all remember his wit, intelligence and love. I love you all.
