Reverend Omer John Paul St. Onge

Age 87, an Ordained Priest with the Marist Fathers in Framingham, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 at Eliot Healthcare Center in Natick. Born Aug. 24, 1920 in Brunswick, ME, son of the late Omer and Alice (Lavoie) St. Onge. His first profession into the Society of Mary came in 1939 in Staten Island, NY. He began his theological studies at the Marist College & Seminary in Framingham, MA in 1941 and graduated in 1946. He was ordained on Feb. 2, 1946. He was a teacher, Guidance Counselor and Principal at Van Buren Boys High, Van Buren, ME, from 1942-1957; Teacher at Maryvale Seminary, Bedford, MA 1964-65; Principal of Bishop Grimes High from 1965-70; Provincial from 1970-79 at the Marist Residence, Bedford, Framingham and Chestnut Hill; Pastor, Superior & Treasurer St. Bruno Parish, Van Buren ME from 1980-85; Associate Pastor at Immaculate Conception, Westerly RI from 1985-87; Parochial Vicar at St. Francis of Assisi/ St. Blaise, Brooklyn, NY from 1987-98; Associate & Pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bradford, VT from 1999-2003 and from 2003 in Residence at Marist House Framingham. Brother of Remi St. Onge of Brunswick, ME and Sister Fabienne St. Onge, Marist Missionary Sisters of Waltham and the late Sister Agnes St. Onge of the Ursuline Sisters formerly of Maine. On Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007 His body will lie in state in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at Marist House, 518 Pleasant St., Framingham from 9 AM to 10:15 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. On Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 His body will lie in State at St. John the Baptist Church, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME from 9 AM to 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Brunswick, ME. Local funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., FRAMINGHAM.
